Falling in love with York

It's nearing the end of my first ever tour and I must say I've enjoyed it immensely. I've spent the last few days in a lovely hotel in York, somewhere I haven't visited since I was a little kid. Unfortunately it was only a short stay. Too short by far, I've enjoyed myself immensely, whilst having no time to do any of the many things I'd planned. I decided to visit the city as my first ever organised tour. Typically I arranged it completely oblivious to the fact that this week, being February half term, is well known by pretty much everybody in the business (including myself  if I was actually to think about it) as being the quietest week of the year workwise.
Actually if I had thought about it I wouldn't have minded one bit. I had advance bookings in place well before I left  that far more than covered my expenses.  After all the stress and effort of moving this past couple of weeks I would have been more than happy if I'd had no more requests for appointments. I fully intended to treat the trip as a bit of a holiday, as well as dipping my toe into the world of a touring escort. I was very much looking forward to making full use of my hotels facilities, which included a fitness suite, swimming pool and spa, as well as exploring the beautiful and historic of York that I remember from my one trip here as a child.
Suffice to say things rarely turn out as we planned them. I haven't used the pool, gym, sauna et al a single time, and I'm checking out in the morning, having plans tomorrow that don't require me to shell out for another night's accommodation. While I've had a good walk around the city centre and a quick browse in some of the shops, I never made it to any of the museums and landmarks I was looking forward to exploring as an adult. I'd been keen to discover if the attractions, in particular the Castle Museum, are as fascinating now as they were to me as a child.
I'm certainly not complaining as I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Work wise I've had to turn many bookings away and I'm returning home far less worried about future finances than I arrived. I've met some lovely people, with whom I hope to remain in contact. All in all a successful tour against all odds. I'm optimistic about lots of future tours and I'll definitely be returning to York very soon, and probably on a regular basis.
Looking at my calendar I can come back either the second or the forth week in March (i.e. sometime between either 7th and 12th or 21st and 26th March) then again the 2nd week of April. If anybody reading this has any input regarding these dates please do send me an email via my site chloeofchester.co.uk/contact-me, or place a comment in it's guestbook: chloeofchester.co.uk/guestbook
